If you had told me years ago that I would one day be planting roots in Tulsa, Oklahoma, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. Growing up in Michigan, then spending years in Utah, New York, and other cold, snowy places, my family and I became all too familiar with the battle against freezing winters. Shoveling driveways, scraping ice off windshields, and navigating snow-covered roads became a part of our daily routine. So when the opportunity came to move to Tulsa in the summer of 2023, we embraced it wholeheartedly. Let’s just say that after a lifetime of dealing with snow, stepping into Oklahoma’s warmth (both in climate and in kindness) was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
From the moment we arrived, my wife and I knew this was it—Tulsa wasn’t just another stop along the way; it was our forever home. The way people welcomed us with open arms, the tight-knit yet diverse communities, and the incredible schools for our kids made it clear: Tulsa is special.

One of the things that struck me the most about Tulsa is the genuine kindness of the people here. Whether it’s a quick chat at the grocery store, a neighbor lending a hand, or the overwhelming support for local businesses, there’s a sense of community that I hadn’t experienced anywhere else.

As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, I’ve been fortunate to train at some of the best institutions in the country, gaining expertise in dental implants, wisdom teeth removal, jaw surgery, facial trauma repair, and head and neck surgical procedures. That’s why when my team and I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Oklahoma Mission of Mercy, we didn’t think twice. For those unfamiliar, Oklahoma Mission of Mercy is an incredible event that provides free dental care to Oklahomans in need. I spent the day extracting teeth, relieving pain, and helping patients who hadn’t been able to access care for years.

It was humbling. Seeing people come from all over the state, sometimes waiting for hours, just for the chance to be out of pain—it reinforced everything I believe in. Oral health is not a luxury. It’s essential.
